Saksanpähkinäöljy

Saksanpähkinäöljy, known in English as walnut oil, is a vegetable oil derived from the kernels of walnuts. It is a popular culinary oil, particularly in European and North American cuisines, prized for its rich, nutty flavor and delicate aroma. The oil is extracted through pressing, and depending on the processing method, it can be sold as virgin or refined oil. Virgin walnut oil, which is cold-pressed, retains more of its flavor and nutrients.

Walnut oil is a good source of polyunsaturated fatty acids, including omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, which are considered beneficial for health. It also contains vitamin E, an antioxidant. Due to its relatively low smoke point, virgin walnut oil is best suited for salad dressings, finishing dishes, and low-heat cooking. Refined walnut oil has a higher smoke point and can be used for sautéing and baking.
