Saitenschwingungen
Saitenschwingungen, also known as string vibrations, are a fundamental concept in physics and music. When a string is disturbed, it begins to oscillate, producing a sound wave. The properties of this vibration, and therefore the sound produced, are determined by several factors. The tension of the string plays a significant role; a tighter string will vibrate at a higher frequency, producing a higher pitch. The mass per unit length of the string is also crucial; a heavier string will vibrate at a lower frequency, resulting in a lower pitch. Finally, the length of the vibrating portion of the string is inversely proportional to its frequency; a shorter string produces a higher pitch.
These vibrations can be described mathematically by wave equations. A plucked or bowed string typically vibrates
