SWV

SWV, short for Sisters With Voices, is an American female R&B vocal group formed in New York City in the early 1990s. The lineup originally consisted of Cheryl “Coko” Gamble, Tamara “Taj” Savage, and Leanne “LeLee” Lyons.

They signed to RCA Records and released their debut album It's About Time in 1992. The record spawned several hit singles, including “Weak,” “Right Here,” and “I’m So into You,” establishing SWV as leading acts in the era and helping to define the sound of early 1990s R&B.

The group followed with The Everything in 1996, continuing their chart success and contributing to the mid-1990s R&B landscape. SWV's harmonies and ballad-driven style were widely influential during this period.

After a period of reduced activity, SWV reunited for touring and performances in the 2000s and 2010s. In 2012, TV One aired SWV Reunited, a reality series that documented the group’s reunion efforts and performances.

SWV remains recognized for their vocal blend and contributions to 1990s R&B, and they have influenced subsequent generations of female vocal groups.
