SPFaurinkosuojaa, also known as Sun Protection Factor (SPF), is a measure of the effectiveness of a sunscreen in protecting the skin from ultraviolet B (UVB) radiation. The higher the SPF number, the greater the protection against UVB rays. SPF is determined by the amount of UVB radiation that can pass through the sunscreen compared to the amount that would pass through without any sunscreen. For example, an SPF 30 sunscreen allows only 1/30th of the UVB rays to pass through, while an SPF 50 sunscreen allows only 1/50th of the UVB rays to pass through.
