SMPTEaikakoodi, also known as SMPTE timecode, is typically represented as a series of numbers separated by colons or semicolons, such as 01:23:45:12, indicating hours, minutes, seconds, and frames, respectively. It can be configured to run in different modes, including drop-frame and non-drop-frame formats, to account for variations in frame rates like 29.97 frames per second used in NTSC video systems.

This time code standard can be embedded directly into media recordings as a metadata track or embedded within the video signal itself through analog or digital encoding.
