SHINee

SHINee is a South Korean boy band formed by SM Entertainment in 2008. The group originally consisted of Onew, Jonghyun, Key, Minho, and Taemin. They made their debut in May 2008 with the single Replay (누난 너무 예뻐), which helped establish their reputation for precise, synchronized dancing and strong vocal performances. SHINee quickly became a leading act in Korea’s second generation of idol groups, known for blending pop with R&B, funk, and electronic sounds and for ambitious concept visuals.

Over the years, SHINee released a number of studio albums and extended plays, including The SHINee World (2008) and notable tracks such as Lucifer and Sherlock. They earned numerous music awards in Korea and abroad and built an international fanbase known as Shawols. The group is widely recognized for its live performances, vocal versatility, and distinctive music videos, which helped influence trends within K-pop.

In December 2017, Jonghyun died, and SHINee continued as a four-member group, with Onew, Key, Minho, and Taemin carrying on activities. Taemin had already pursued a solo career since 2014 while remaining a SHINee member, and the remaining members have continued to release music and perform globally. SHINee’s work is credited with contributing to the durability and evolution of K-pop, particularly through refined choreography, strong harmonies, and genre-blending experimentation. As of the 2020s, SHINee remains active, continuing to release music and undertake tours and concerts around the world.
