Süstidel

Süstidel is a coastal municipality in the fictional country of Veridia, located on the northern shore of Lake Serin. The municipality comprises the town of Süstidel and several surrounding villages, with a total population of about 6,000 and an area of 28 square kilometers. The town center features a medieval harbor and a market square that hosts weekly markets and cultural events.

Its origins date to the 12th century, when maritime settlers established a trading post. It grew in the following centuries as a port linked to inland markets by river routes and, later, by rail. The town’s architecture shows a blend of medieval stonework and early modern planning, reflecting reforms of the 18th and 19th centuries.

The landscape is gently rolling, with vineyards to the south and coastal hills to the north. The temperate maritime climate yields mild winters and cool summers, supporting local farming and fishing. The economy centers on fishing, small-scale agriculture, and tourism, with the harbor serving seasonal fleets and a craft market.

Süstidel is governed by a mayor and a town council elected for four-year terms. The municipality preserves its heritage through restoration programs and cultural events, including an annual harvest festival and a harbor reenactment. Notable landmarks include the 14th-century parish church of St. Elena and the Old Lighthouse.
