Sügissemestri
Sügissemestri is a term used in Estonian academic institutions to refer to the autumn semester. It is one of the two main academic semesters that constitute a typical academic year. The sügissemestri generally begins in late August or early September and concludes in December or early January. This period is characterized by the commencement of new academic programs, the resumption of lectures and seminars for ongoing studies, and the lead-up to end-of-semester examinations and assessments. The duration and specific start and end dates can vary slightly between different universities and even between different faculties within the same institution. The sügissemestri is followed by the kevadsemestri, or spring semester, which typically starts in February. Students often refer to the sügissemestri as the "fall semester" in English-speaking contexts. The academic workload during this semester can be significant as students adjust to new courses and the academic rhythm after the summer break.
