Sõrmusliitmik

Sõrmusliitmik refers to a type of mechanical fastener, commonly known in English as a split ring, snap ring, or circlip. It is a semi-flexible metal ring, typically made of spring steel, with open ends that allow it to be compressed or expanded for insertion into a groove on a shaft or inside a bore. Once fitted into its groove, the ring's spring action holds it securely in place.

There are two primary types of sõrmusliitmik: internal and external. Internal sõrmusliitmikud are designed to fit inside a bore or housing, retaining components on a shaft. They are typically installed by compressing the ring and inserting it into a circular groove. External sõrmusliitmikud are designed to fit onto a shaft, retaining components on the shaft. They are usually expanded and placed into a groove on the exterior of the shaft.
