Sähkönegatiivisin is a Finnish term that translates to "most electronegative" in English. Electronegativity is a measure of the tendency of an atom to attract a bonding pair of electrons. This property is fundamental in chemistry, as it helps predict the type of bond that will form between two atoms. When two atoms with significantly different electronegativity values bond, the bond is considered polar covalent or even ionic, with the more electronegative atom pulling the shared electrons closer to itself.

In the periodic table, electronegativity generally increases as you move from left to right across a period and decreases as you move down a group.
