Räkkimallisia
Räkkimallisia is a Finnish term used to describe a specific type of fishing lure. Literally translated, it means "shrimp-shaped" or "prawn-like." These lures are designed to mimic the appearance and movement of small crustaceans, such as shrimp or prawns, which are a natural food source for many predatory fish. The design typically features a soft, flexible body made of silicone or similar materials, often with articulated segments to enhance realism. Coloration varies widely, with many mimicking natural shrimp colors like pink, white, or translucent shades, while others come in brighter, more attention-grabbing hues. Räkkimallisia are often rigged on jig heads or weedless hooks, allowing them to be fished in various water conditions and habitats, including areas with submerged vegetation. Their effectiveness stems from their ability to trigger a predatory response in fish that actively hunt crustaceans. Anglers use them for species like perch, zander, and pike, particularly in freshwater environments.
