RvD

RVD commonly refers to Rob Van Dam, the American professional wrestler and actor whose ring name is formed from the initials associated with his stage persona. Born December 17, 1970, in Battle Creek, Michigan, he developed a martial-arts–influenced, high-flying style that helped make him a prominent figure in professional wrestling from the late 1990s onward.

Van Dam rose to prominence in Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW), where he became one of the promotion’s best-known stars. He later joined World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE, then WWF) in 2001 and achieved mainstream fame, including a WWE Championship reign. He is widely recognized for his athleticism and his finishing move, the Five-Star Frog Splash. In addition to the WWE title, he is a former ECW World Heavyweight Champion and was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2023.

Beyond WWE, RVD competed in Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA/Impact Wrestling) and worked on the independent circuit. He has pursued acting and appeared in various film, television, and video game projects. The initials RVD also appear in other, less common uses in different fields, but the wrestler Rob Van Dam remains the most widely recognized reference.
