Russilliskontin

Russilliskontin, also known as Russilliskontinent, is a hypothetical continent proposed by the Russian geographer and cartographer Alexander Russillis in the early 20th century. Russillis suggested that a vast, previously undiscovered continent existed in the Southern Hemisphere, roughly between 30 and 60 degrees south latitude. This continent, which Russillis named "Antarctica Australis," was believed to be a landmass of significant size, potentially comparable to or even larger than the existing continents.

Russillis's theory was based on a combination of geographical observations, historical accounts, and speculative cartography. He argued that the continent was covered by dense forests and had a mild climate, which would explain the lack of evidence for its existence. Russillis's ideas gained some popularity in the early 20th century, but they were largely dismissed by the scientific community due to the lack of empirical evidence and the absence of any substantial geographical features that could support the existence of such a continent.
