Ruoallas

Ruoallas is a fictional town and municipality in the western Valseria region. It sits in a river valley between forested hills, roughly 50 kilometers north of the regional capital, Lyria. The area has a temperate climate with four distinct seasons.

The name Ruoallas is of uncertain origin. Local tradition links it to the nearby Ruo River and a suffix meaning “place,” with spellings varying in historical records.

The settlement is first mentioned in medieval charters. It developed as an agricultural market town and gained municipal status after 1958. A regional railway reached Ruoallas in the late 19th century, stimulating forestry and dairy industries.

The municipality covers about 120 square kilometers and includes several small villages. It is part of Valseria’s regional government and is governed by a mayor and elected council.

Traditionally rooted in farming and wood production, the economy now combines agriculture, light manufacturing, and services. Dairy products and timber processing are notable local industries.

The population is around 12,000. Most residents speak Valserian; education is in the official language. The town hosts an annual harvest festival and maintains a parish church and a rural life museum.

Ruoallas is served by regional roads and a passenger rail line. The nearest international airport is in a neighboring city. Public services include a hospital, a secondary school, and a municipal library.
