Ruiskutushetki

Ruiskutushetki refers to the precise moment when fuel is injected into an internal combustion engine's cylinder or intake manifold. This timing is critical for efficient engine operation, affecting power output, fuel economy, and emissions. In gasoline engines, this can occur during the intake stroke (port injection) or directly into the combustion chamber (direct injection). Diesel engines almost exclusively use direct injection, where the fuel is sprayed into the cylinder as the piston approaches the top of its compression stroke.

The control of the ruiskutushetki is managed by the engine control unit (ECU), which receives data from various sensors. These sensors monitor parameters such as engine speed, throttle position, manifold pressure, and coolant temperature. Based on this information, the ECU calculates the optimal injection timing to ensure complete combustion of the fuel-air mixture. Variations in injection timing can lead to different combustion characteristics. Advancing the injection timing (injecting earlier) can improve performance but may increase NOx emissions. Retarding the injection timing (injecting later) can help reduce NOx but may decrease power and efficiency. Modern engines utilize sophisticated algorithms to precisely control the ruiskutushetki under all operating conditions, optimizing the balance between performance, economy, and environmental impact.
