Roottorikäämeiden

Roottorikäämeiden is a Finnish term that translates to "rotor windings" in English. This refers to the electrical coils that are wound around the rotor of an electric motor or generator. These windings are crucial components responsible for generating the magnetic field that enables the motor's rotation or the generator's electricity production.

In a typical AC induction motor, the rotor windings are often made of copper or aluminum bars embedded in slots on the rotor core. These bars are typically short-circuited at the ends by end rings, forming what is known as a squirrel cage rotor. In other types of motors, such as wound rotor motors, the rotor windings are connected to slip rings, allowing external resistance to be added for speed control.
