Roidas
Roidas is a fictional planet featured in the science fiction novel "The War of the Worlds" by H.G. Wells. In the story, Roidas is depicted as a planet inhabited by intelligent beings who are technologically advanced. The Martians, the primary antagonists of the novel, are believed to originate from Roidas and have traveled to Earth in search of resources. The narrative portrays the Roidans as superior in scientific knowledge and military capabilities, allowing them to launch a successful invasion of Earth. Their advanced weaponry, including heat rays and tripods, enables them to overwhelm human defenses. However, the Roidans' dominance is ultimately short-lived. They are eventually defeated by Earth's native microorganisms, to which they have no immunity. This unexpected vulnerability leads to their demise and the end of their invasion. The concept of Roidas and its inhabitants serves as a crucial element in Wells' exploration of themes such as colonialism, technological hubris, and the fragility of even the most advanced civilizations in the face of nature's power.
