Ristikytkentäiset

Ristikytkentäiset is a Finnish term that translates to "cross-linked" or "interconnected" in English. It is most commonly used in the context of materials science and polymer chemistry to describe a specific molecular structure. In this context, ristikytkentäiset refers to polymers where individual polymer chains are joined together by covalent bonds, forming a three-dimensional network. This cross-linking process significantly alters the material's properties compared to uncross-linked (linear or branched) polymers.

Materials that are ristikytkentäiset typically exhibit increased strength, rigidity, and thermal stability. They are generally less soluble and more resistant to solvents and chemical attack. The degree of cross-linking can be controlled, allowing for a range of properties from flexible elastomers to rigid thermosetting plastics.
