Risteytymäalueet
Risteytymäalueet, also known as intersection areas, are specific zones where different types of land use or ecological communities meet. These transitional zones exhibit characteristics of both neighboring areas, often leading to increased biodiversity. For example, the edge of a forest where it meets a meadow is a risteytymäalue. Here, plants and animals adapted to both forest and open field conditions can often be found.
These areas are significant from an ecological perspective. They can act as corridors for species movement,
