Rhnegatiiviselle

Rhnegatiiviselle refers to a blood type classification within the ABO and Rh blood group systems. Specifically, it indicates an individual who is Rh negative. This means their red blood cells lack the RhD antigen, a protein found on the surface of red blood cells in individuals who are Rh positive. The ABO system categorizes blood based on the presence or absence of A and B antigens, and the Rh system adds another layer of identification with the RhD antigen. Therefore, Rhnegatiiviselle describes a person who is, for example, A negative, B negative, AB negative, or O negative.

The Rh factor is inherited and determined by genes. The absence of the RhD antigen is considered the "negative" state. This is clinically significant, particularly during pregnancy and blood transfusions. If an Rh negative mother carries an Rh positive fetus, her immune system may develop antibodies against the fetal RhD antigen. This can lead to hemolytic disease of the newborn in subsequent pregnancies. For transfusions, Rh negative individuals can generally receive Rh negative blood, but it is safer for them to receive Rh negative blood to avoid sensitization. Rh positive individuals can receive both Rh positive and Rh negative blood.
