Rezonanciaállapotban, a Hungarian term, translates to "in a state of resonance." This concept is primarily encountered in physics and chemistry, describing a system that is subjected to an external influence at a frequency matching one of its natural frequencies of oscillation. When this occurs, the amplitude of the oscillation increases significantly, leading to a transfer of energy into the system.

In physics, resonance is a common phenomenon. For instance, a tuning fork will vibrate strongly when exposed to a sound wave of its specific resonant frequency. Bridges and buildings can experience resonance if subjected to vibrations from wind or earthquakes at their natural frequencies, potentially leading to structural failure. In electrical circuits, resonance occurs when the inductive and capacitive reactances cancel each other out, allowing for maximum current flow at a specific frequency.

In chemistry, resonance describes the delocalization of electrons within certain molecules or polyatomic ions. It is a theoretical concept used to explain the bonding and stability of molecules where a single Lewis structure cannot adequately represent the electron distribution. Instead, multiple contributing structures, called resonance structures, are drawn, and the actual molecule is considered a hybrid of these structures.
