Retikuláris

Retikuláris is a Hungarian adjective meaning net-like or resembling a net. It is used in science to describe a mesh- or lattice-like organization in various contexts, often derived from the Latin reticulatus.

In histology, reticular tissue (retikuláris kötőszövet) forms a delicate three-dimensional framework (stroma) that supports the functional cells of many organs. It is mainly composed of reticular fibers, thin type III collagen produced by specialized cells such as reticular cells and fibroblasts. This network provides structural support and helps create microenvironments for immune cells in lymphoid organs like the spleen and lymph nodes, as well as in bone marrow.

Reticular fibers form a three-dimensional web that traps and organizes cells; they stain with silver (reticulin) in histological preparations, which helps reveal the framework.

In neuroanatomy, the reticular formation is a network of neurons in the brainstem involved in regulating arousal, attention, and consciousness. The reticular activating system (RAS) describes pathways that influence wakefulness and the processing of sensory information.

In botany, reticulate venation refers to a net-like pattern of leaf veins, in contrast to parallel or palmately veined patterns.
