Resonanssikytkentöjä, or resonant couplings, describe a phenomenon where two or more systems interact and exchange energy efficiently when they are at or near the same resonant frequency. This interaction is not limited to physical objects vibrating at specific frequencies but can also occur in electrical circuits and even in biological systems. The key principle is the transfer of energy from one system to another without significant loss, facilitated by matching their natural oscillation frequencies.

In electrical engineering, resonant couplings are fundamental to the operation of many devices. For instance, tuned circuits, such as LC circuits (inductor-capacitor circuits), exhibit resonance at a specific frequency determined by the values of their inductance and capacitance. When two such circuits are brought into proximity, and their resonant frequencies align, energy can be transferred wirelessly between them. This principle underpins technologies like wireless charging and radio frequency identification (RFID). Beyond electronics, the concept of resonance appears in various physical phenomena. Mechanical resonance occurs when an external force causes an object to vibrate at its natural frequency, leading to large amplitude oscillations. Acoustic resonance, similarly, involves the amplification of sound waves at specific frequencies within a confined space.
