Reseptordensitet refers to the number of receptors present in a given area of a cell membrane or tissue. Receptors are protein molecules that bind to specific signaling molecules, such as hormones or neurotransmitters, and initiate a cellular response. The density of these receptors can significantly influence the sensitivity of a cell or tissue to a particular signal.

A high reseptordensitet means that more receptor molecules are available to bind with signaling molecules. This typically leads to a stronger or more pronounced cellular response, even at low concentrations of the signaling molecule.
