Replot

Replot, known in Finnish as Raippaluoto, is an island in the Ostrobothnia region of Finland. It is part of the Vaasa sub-region and, since 1969, has been administered as part of the city of Vaasa. The island lies in the Kvarken archipelago between the Gulf of Bothnia and the Bothnian Sea and is connected to Vaasa by road via the Replot Bridge, which opened in 1997 and replaced longer ferry crossings.

Historically, Replot operated as an independent municipality from the 17th century until its merger with Vaasa in the late 1960s. The local economy has traditionally centered on agriculture and fishing, with villages dotted along the coastline. In contemporary times, it has developed into a mainly residential area that serves as a commuter region for Vaasa while retaining rural characteristics, local services, and a community atmosphere.

Geographically, the island features flat coastal terrain, with a mix of farmland, forested areas, and rocky shorelines. It forms part of the Kvarken Archipelago, a region noted for its distinctive post-glacial rebound and maritime ecosystems. Parts of the archipelago are protected to preserve natural habitats and wildlife.

Transport and infrastructure are dominated by the Replot Bridge, a critical link that integrates Replot into the Vaasa metropolitan area. The bridge enhances access to services, education, and employment on the mainland and supports regional development.
