Reoveesüsteemides

Reoveesüsteemides refer to wastewater systems in Estonian. These systems are crucial for managing and treating domestic and industrial wastewater before it is discharged back into the environment. The primary goal of a reoveesüsteem is to protect public health and prevent pollution of water bodies.

A typical reoveesüsteem consists of several key components. Firstly, there are collection networks, which include pipes, manholes, and pumping stations that gather wastewater from various sources. This collected wastewater then travels to a wastewater treatment plant, known as a reoveepuhasti. At the reoveepuhasti, the wastewater undergoes a series of physical, chemical, and biological processes to remove pollutants. These processes often include screening, sedimentation, aeration, and disinfection.

The treated effluent, which is now significantly cleaner, is then discharged into rivers, lakes, or the sea, or sometimes used for irrigation. The solid waste removed during the treatment process, known as sludge (sette), is also managed, often being further treated and disposed of or utilized for agricultural purposes. Maintaining and operating these systems effectively is vital for environmental sustainability and public well-being. Regular maintenance, upgrades, and compliance with environmental regulations are essential aspects of managing reoveesüsteemides.
