Rektusmuskler

Rektusmuskler, commonly known as abdominal muscles, are a pair of flat muscles that run vertically along the abdomen. The primary rectus muscle is the rectus abdominis, which is divided into two symmetrical bands by a median line called the linea alba. Horizontal fibrous bands, known as tendinous intersections, divide the rectus abdominis into segments, giving the appearance of a "six-pack" when well-developed.

The rectus abdominis originates from the pubic symphysis and pubic crest and inserts into the xiphoid process and the costal cartilages of ribs 5-7. Its main functions include flexing the trunk, compressing the abdominal organs, and assisting in forced exhalation. These muscles play a crucial role in posture and stabilizing the spine.

While "rektusmuskler" is a less common term, it directly translates to "rectus muscles" in English, referring to the muscles with a straight, or rectus, orientation. In anatomical and fitness contexts, the rectus abdominis is the primary muscle group being referred to. Other muscles that contribute to the abdominal wall include the external and internal obliques and the transversus abdominis, which work in conjunction with the rectus abdominis to support the core.
