Rekristallized

Rekristallized is a term that refers to the process of recrystallization, a fundamental technique in chemistry and materials science. Recrystallization is primarily used to purify solid compounds. It involves dissolving an impure solid in a hot solvent in which the desired compound is sparingly soluble at room temperature but highly soluble at elevated temperatures. Impurities, ideally, are either insoluble in the hot solvent or remain dissolved in the cold solvent.

The solution is then allowed to cool slowly. As the temperature decreases, the solubility of the desired compound diminishes, causing it to crystallize out of the solution in a purer form. The solid crystals are then separated from the mother liquor, which contains the dissolved impurities, typically through filtration. This process can be repeated multiple times to achieve a higher degree of purity.

Rekristallized can also refer to the state of a material after undergoing recrystallization. For instance, a "rekristallized metal" has undergone a process where new, strain-free grains form and grow at the expense of the original deformed grains, often initiated by heating. This process is crucial in metalworking to relieve internal stresses and restore ductility to work-hardened materials. The size and shape of the rekristallized grains can be controlled by factors such as temperature, time, and the degree of prior deformation.
