Rekordstruktúra

Rekordstruktúra, often translated as record structure or simply record, is a fundamental data structure in computer programming. It is a composite data type that aggregates a fixed number of elements, each of which can be of a different data type. These elements are referred to as fields or members. Unlike arrays, which store elements of the same type, records allow for the storage of heterogeneous data under a single name.

The primary purpose of a record structure is to group related pieces of data logically. For instance, a record representing a person might contain fields for their name (a string), age (an integer), and height (a floating-point number). Accessing individual fields within a record is typically done using a specific syntax, often involving a dot operator (e.g., person.name).

Records are widely used in various programming paradigms and languages, including Pascal, C, COBOL, and in object-oriented languages like C++ and Java through structures or classes. They are particularly useful for representing real-world entities, database records, or complex data items where a collection of distinct attributes needs to be managed cohesively. The concept of records forms the basis for more complex data structures like objects and classes.
