Rekombinaatiohäiriöiden is a Finnish term that translates to recombination disorders or recombination defects. These are a group of genetic conditions that arise from errors in the process of homologous recombination during meiosis, the cell division that produces gametes (sperm and egg cells). Homologous recombination is crucial for ensuring the correct segregation of chromosomes and for generating genetic diversity through the exchange of genetic material between homologous chromosomes.
