Registrante is a term used in several legal and administrative contexts to denote the person or entity that registers a record in an official registry. The registrant is typically responsible for providing accurate contact information, paying fees, and maintaining the validity of the registration. In many systems, the registrant holds the rights associated with the registered item, though a registrar or agent may perform administrative tasks on the registrant’s behalf.

Domain names: In domain registration, the registrant is the person or organization listed as the owner of the domain in the registry and WHOIS data. The registrant is usually responsible for upkeep, including contact details and renewal. Privacy or proxy services may conceal all or part of this information, in compliance with privacy laws. Transfers of ownership require actions by the registrant and the registrar.

Intellectual property: For trademarks, patents, and design registrations, the registrant (often called owner of record) holds exclusive rights conferred by registration. The registrant must renew the registration before it expires and may be required to maintain use of the mark or work to keep the rights alive.

Other registries: In vehicle, real estate, or corporate registries, the registrant is the subject listed in the registry as the holder of the asset or right. The exact duties and visibility of registrant information vary by jurisdiction and registry rules.
