Regionalkarte

Regionalkarte is a term used in German-speaking regions to denote a card that provides services or benefits within a defined geographic area. The precise scope and conditions vary by issuer and region, but the underlying idea is regional access rather than nationwide coverage.

In public transport contexts, a Regionalkarte typically represents a ticket or pass valid for travel within a specified region, usually a city, district, or tariff zone network managed by a Verkehrsverbund or local transport authority. These cards may be purchased as day passes, monthly passes, or annual passes, and can cover buses, trams, and regional trains within the defined area. Some Regionalkarten also offer reduced fares for partner operators or bundled discounts on other regional services.
