RegionCounty

RegionCounty is a county-level administrative division in the fictional nation of Veridia, located in the central part of the Veridian region. The county seat is Centerport. The county covers about 1,400 square kilometers and features a mix of agricultural land, small towns, and protected natural areas along the Region River.

Geography and environment: The Region River runs north–south through the county, providing water supply and recreation. The northern part includes rolling hills known as the Region Hills, while the southern area is flatter farmland.

History: RegionCounty was established in 1849 during a statewide reorganization of counties. The name derives from the Region River and the broader regional identity of the area.

Demographics: As of the latest estimates, RegionCounty has around 75,000 residents. The population is largely rural with three principal towns: Centerport, Milltown, and Oakmeadow. The area is diverse and has an aging but stable population.

Government: The county is governed by a five-member Board of Commissioners elected from districts, with a County Clerk and a Sheriff. The county provides local services such as roads, public safety, and parks, and operates a regional courthouse.

Economy and transportation: The economy is diversified, combining agriculture (crops and dairy), light manufacturing, and logistics. The region is served by two state highways and a freight rail line; Centerport hosts a small regional airport.

Education: Public education is provided by the RegionCounty School District, which operates several elementary and secondary schools, along with RegionCounty Community College in Centerport.
