Reduktázou

Reduktázou is the instrumental singular form of the Czech noun reduktáza, which corresponds to the English term reductase. In Czech-language biochemistry and pharmacology, reduktáza refers to enzymes that catalyze reduction reactions—the transfer of electrons and sometimes hydrogen atoms to a substrate. The instrumental form reduktázou is used to describe an action performed by a reductase, for example in descriptions of a reaction proceeding reduktázou, or by means of a reductase.

Reductases are a broad family within the oxidoreductases (EC class 1) that mediate the addition of electrons to various substrates. They are essential for metabolism, detoxification, and the activation or inactivation of compounds. Many reductases require cofactors such as NADH or NADPH to supply reducing equivalents; others use flavin cofactors (FAD or FMN) or heme groups.
