Receptorinduced is a term used to describe cellular responses initiated by the activation of a receptor when it binds its ligand. It emphasizes the receptor as the primary trigger that converts extracellular signals into intracellular responses in various signaling systems.

Most receptorinduced signals begin with ligand binding to a cell-surface receptor or an intracellular receptor. This binding induces conformational changes that propagate through the receptor and recruit or activate intracellular signaling proteins. Receptors may function as enzymes themselves, as scaffolds, or as conduits to second messenger systems.

Common pathways include receptor tyrosine kinases, which autophosphorylate and activate MAP kinase cascades; G protein-coupled receptors, which modulate cyclic AMP, calcium, and other messengers; and nuclear receptors, which regulate gene transcription after ligand exposure.
