Receptordensitet refers to the number of receptors present on or within a cell membrane. Receptors are protein molecules that bind to specific signaling molecules, such as hormones or neurotransmitters, triggering a cellular response. The density of these receptors can significantly influence how a cell or tissue responds to these signals.

Higher receptordensitet means more binding sites are available for the signaling molecule, potentially leading to a stronger or more rapid cellular reaction. Conversely, a lower receptordensitet may result in a weaker or slower response, even if the signaling molecule is present in sufficient quantities.
