Realvärdesmätningar, often translated as "real value measurements" or "real-term measurements," is a concept in economics and finance that refers to the measurement of economic quantities adjusted for the effects of inflation. Instead of looking at nominal values, which are expressed in current prices, real values are calculated using prices from a specific base year. This adjustment allows for a more accurate comparison of economic performance over time, as it removes the distortion caused by changes in the general price level.

The process of calculating real values involves deflating nominal values using a price index, such as the Consumer Price Index (CPI) or the GDP deflator. For example, if GDP in nominal terms has increased by 5% in a year, but inflation has been 3%, the real GDP growth would only be 2%. This distinction is crucial for understanding the true growth in production and economic output, as nominal increases might simply reflect rising prices rather than an actual increase in the quantity of goods and services produced.

Realvärdesmätningar are applied to a wide range of economic indicators, including wages, economic output (GDP), investment, and consumption.
