Reacylating

Reacylating is a chemical process that involves the introduction of an acyl group into a molecule. An acyl group is a functional group derived from an organic acid by removing the hydroxyl group. This process is essentially the reverse of deacylation, where an acyl group is removed.

The most common type of reacylation is acylation, where an acyl group is attached to an atom in a molecule, typically through a covalent bond. This can occur at various positions within a molecule, such as on oxygen, nitrogen, or carbon atoms. For example, in organic synthesis, reacylating a hydroxyl group (alcohol) forms an ester, and reacylating an amine forms an amide.
