Rautamalmiteollisuus refers to the industry involved in the extraction and processing of iron ore. Iron ore is a rock or mineral from which metallic iron can be extracted economically. The majority of iron ore is used to produce steel, which is an alloy of iron and carbon. Steel is a fundamental material in modern society, used in construction, infrastructure, manufacturing, transportation, and many other applications.
