Rauta(II)asetaatti, also known as ferrous acetate, is a chemical compound with the formula Fe(CH3COO)2. It is the iron(II) salt of acetic acid. In its anhydrous form, it appears as a white to pale green solid. Hydrated forms are also known, often exhibiting a more pronounced green color. Rauta(II)asetaatti is soluble in water, where it undergoes hydrolysis to a limited extent. It is also soluble in some organic solvents.

The preparation of rauta(II)asetaatti typically involves the reaction of iron(II) carbonate or iron(II) hydroxide with acetic acid. Alternatively, it can be produced by the reduction of iron(III) salts in the presence of acetate ions. Due to the ease with which iron(II) ions can be oxidized to iron(III) ions by air, rauta(II)asetaatti readily oxidizes when exposed to oxygen, especially in solution. This oxidation can lead to the formation of iron(III) acetate or iron(III) hydroxide.

Rauta(II)asetaatti has found some limited applications. Historically, it has been used as a mordant in dyeing processes, helping to fix dyes to fabrics. It has also been explored for its potential use in analytical chemistry and as a precursor in the synthesis of other iron-containing compounds. Its susceptibility to oxidation, however, can limit its utility in certain applications.
