Rasteralapú

Rasteralapú is a Hungarian term that translates to "raster-based" in English. It refers to a digital image or graphic that is composed of a grid of individual pixels. Each pixel is a small, uniformly colored square that, when viewed together, form a complete image. This is in contrast to vector graphics, which are defined by mathematical equations and can be scaled infinitely without losing quality.

Raster images are commonly created by scanners, digital cameras, and painting or drawing software. They are characterized by their resolution, which is measured in pixels per inch (PPI) or dots per inch (DPI). Higher resolution means more pixels are present in a given area, resulting in a more detailed and sharper image. However, increasing the resolution of a raster image beyond its original capture or creation size will not add new detail and can lead to a loss of quality when enlarged.

Common file formats for raster images include JPEG, PNG, GIF, and BMP. These formats are widely used for photographs, web graphics, and digital art. Editing raster images typically involves manipulating individual pixels or groups of pixels, which can alter the image's color, brightness, contrast, and other visual properties. Due to their pixelated nature, raster images can become "pixelated" or blocky when scaled up significantly.
