Radiotaajuuslähetykset, often abbreviated as RF transmissions, refer to the process of sending information through electromagnetic waves within the radio frequency spectrum. This spectrum encompasses a wide range of frequencies, from a few kilohertz to several hundred gigahertz, each utilized for different communication purposes. The fundamental principle involves modulating a carrier wave, which is an electromagnetic wave of a specific frequency, with the information to be transmitted. This modulation can take various forms, such as amplitude modulation (AM) or frequency modulation (FM), where the information signal alters the amplitude or frequency of the carrier wave, respectively.

Once modulated, the signal is amplified and fed into a transmitting antenna. The antenna converts the electrical signal into electromagnetic waves that propagate through the air, space, or other media. At the receiving end, a receiving antenna captures these waves, which are then processed by a receiver. The receiver demodulates the signal, extracting the original information from the carrier wave. This technology underpins a vast array of modern communication systems, including radio and television broadcasting, mobile phone networks, Wi-Fi, radar, satellite communications, and various forms of wireless data transfer. The specific frequency bands used for these applications are regulated internationally and nationally to prevent interference and ensure efficient use of the radio spectrum.
