RCBOyhdistelmäksi
RCBOyhdistelmäksi refers to a combined Residual Current Circuit Breaker with Overcurrent protection, commonly known by its acronym RCBO. This electrical device integrates the functions of a residual current device (RCD) and a miniature circuit breaker (MCB) into a single unit. The RCD component detects imbalances in the electrical current, which can indicate a fault to earth, such as a person touching a live wire. If such an imbalance is detected, the RCD rapidly trips, interrupting the power supply to prevent electric shock. The MCB component, on the other hand, protects the electrical circuit from overcurrents, which include both overloads and short circuits. Overloads occur when too much current is drawn through the circuit, while short circuits are caused by a direct connection between live and neutral wires. By combining these two protective functions, an RCBO offers enhanced safety and convenience in electrical installations. It occupies less space in a distribution board compared to separate RCD and MCB units, simplifying wiring and installation. RCBOs are widely used in residential, commercial, and industrial settings to provide comprehensive protection against electrical hazards. The tripping characteristics and sensitivity of an RCBO can be selected based on the specific requirements of the circuit being protected.
