RACI is a responsibility assignment matrix used in project management and organizational structuring. The acronym RACI stands for Responsible, Accountable, Consulted, and Informed. Each letter represents a different level of involvement for a stakeholder in a task or deliverable. The "Responsible" party is the one who actually performs the work. The "Accountable" party is the one who is ultimately answerable for the correct and thorough completion of the deliverable or task, and they typically have the authority to approve the work done. There should only be one Accountable person per task. The "Consulted" parties are those whose opinions are sought and with whom there is two-way communication. Finally, the "Informed" parties are those who are kept up-to-date on progress or decisions, and with whom there is only one-way communication.
