Røggasrensningssystem

Røggasrensningssystem, often translated as flue gas treatment system or exhaust gas cleaning system, refers to a set of technologies and processes designed to remove harmful pollutants from the exhaust gases produced by combustion processes. These systems are crucial for environmental protection and public health, particularly in industrial settings like power plants, incinerators, and manufacturing facilities. The primary goal is to reduce emissions of particulate matter, sulfur dioxide (SO2), nitrogen oxides (NOx), heavy metals, and other toxic substances before they are released into the atmosphere.

There are various types of røggasrensningssystem, each targeting specific pollutants. Electrostatic precipitators (ESPs) are commonly used to remove particulate matter, including fly ash, by imparting an electrical charge to the particles and then collecting them on oppositely charged plates. Scrubbers, both wet and dry, are employed to remove gaseous pollutants like SO2. Wet scrubbers use a liquid absorbent (often a lime or limestone slurry) to react with and neutralize SO2, while dry scrubbers inject a powdered reagent into the flue gas.

For NOx reduction, technologies such as selective catalytic reduction (SCR) and selective non-catalytic reduction (SNCR) are widely implemented. SCR systems use a catalyst and a reductant (typically ammonia or urea) to convert NOx into nitrogen and water, while SNCR achieves a similar conversion without a catalyst, usually at higher temperatures. Combined systems can also be employed to address a broader range of pollutants simultaneously, ensuring compliance with increasingly stringent environmental regulations and minimizing the ecological impact of industrial activities.
