Qhavi

Qhavi is a constructed language developed for a speculative world-building project. It is described as the native tongue of the Qhavi people of the Nalor archipelago on the imagined continent of Aralara, and it serves as a core element of their cultural identity.

Linguistic overview: Qhavi is primarily agglutinative with subject–object–verb word order. It uses vowel harmony across roots and affixes and features a system of evidential markers indicating the source of information. The nominal system makes clear distinctions among demonstratives and definite versus indefinite references, while verbal morphology encodes tense, aspect, mood, and evidential nuance. Phonology includes a five-vowel inventory and a consonant set that includes ejectives and a glottal stop.

Writing and dialects: The writing system, known as the Qhavi script, combines a syllabary with logographic elements for common morphemes. In canon texts, sign forms are often mixed with syllabic signs. Two major dialects, Coastal Qhavi and Inland Qhavi, differ in phonology and lexicon but remain largely mutually intelligible.
