**QENC**

QENC, or the **Queensland Emergency Number Connect**, is a telecommunications service developed by Telstra in partnership with the Queensland Government to enhance emergency communication in the state. Launched in 2019, QENC aims to improve the reliability and accessibility of emergency calls, particularly in remote and rural areas where traditional phone networks may be less stable.

The service leverages existing mobile networks to provide a more robust connection for emergency services, including

QENC operates alongside existing emergency services infrastructure, meaning users can still dial 000 for urgent assistance.

As of its implementation, QENC has been tested in various scenarios, including live events and natural disasters,

police,
fire,
and
ambulance
personnel.
By
utilizing
advanced
call
routing
and
redundancy
features,
QENC
helps
ensure
that
calls
are
consistently
routed
to
the
nearest
emergency
response
center,
even
during
network
disruptions.
This
is
particularly
beneficial
in
regions
prone
to
natural
disasters,
such

cyclones
or
bushfires,
where
infrastructure
may
be
temporarily
compromised.

system
is
designed
to
be
compatible
with
