Põlemitsüklil

Põlemitsüklil, often translated as burning cycle or combustion cycle, refers to the sequential processes involved in the burning of a fuel to produce energy. This concept is fundamental in thermodynamics and engineering, particularly in the operation of internal combustion engines, power plants, and various industrial furnaces. The cycle typically involves several distinct stages: intake, compression, combustion (or power), and exhaust.

During the intake phase, a mixture of fuel and air (or just air in some engines) is drawn into a combustion chamber. This is followed by the compression phase, where the fuel-air mixture is squeezed into a smaller volume, increasing its temperature and pressure. The combustion phase is where the ignition of the compressed mixture occurs, releasing a significant amount of energy in the form of heat and expanding gases. This expansion is what drives mechanical work, such as the movement of a piston in an engine. Finally, in the exhaust phase, the spent gases are expelled from the chamber to make way for the next cycle.

The efficiency of a põlemitsüklil is a crucial parameter, determining how much useful work can be extracted from a given amount of fuel. Factors such as the type of fuel, the design of the combustion chamber, and the operating conditions all influence this efficiency.
