Përgjithësime refers to generalizations. In a cognitive sense, it is the process of forming a general idea or conclusion from specific instances or observations. This involves identifying common features, patterns, or principles that apply across multiple cases. Generalizations are fundamental to learning and understanding the world, allowing us to make predictions and categorize information. For example, observing that several dogs bark might lead to the generalization that "dogs bark."

However, generalizations can also be problematic. They can oversimplify complex realities, leading to stereotypes or inaccurate assumptions. When a generalization is applied too broadly or without sufficient evidence, it can become a prejudice or a hasty conclusion. For instance, assuming all members of a particular group share a certain characteristic based on limited examples is a flawed generalization. Critical thinking involves evaluating the validity and scope of generalizations, distinguishing between useful abstractions and harmful oversimplifications. In logic and reasoning, generalizations are often expressed as statements that apply to a class of objects or phenomena. The strength of a generalization depends on the number and representativeness of the specific instances it is based upon.
