Pålås

Pélés, also known as Pelasgos, was a legendary king of the Pelasgians, an ancient people believed to have migrated from the Balkans to Greece and other parts of the Mediterranean region. According to Greek mythology, Pélés was the son of the Titan Atlas and the Oceanid Pleione. He is often associated with the Pelasgians, who are thought to have been the first inhabitants of Greece, predating the Greeks themselves.

Pélés is mentioned in various ancient texts, including the works of Hesiod and Apollodorus. According to these sources, Pélés was a skilled craftsman and a builder of cities. He is credited with founding several cities in Greece, including Megara and Argos. Pélés is also said to have been the father of several children, including the nymphs Electra and Aethra, and the hero Deucalion.

The Pelasgians are believed to have been a seafaring people, and their migration to Greece is thought to have occurred around the 3rd millennium BCE. They are often associated with the Bronze Age, and their culture is thought to have been heavily influenced by the Aegean and Mediterranean civilizations of the time.

Despite the legendary status of Pélés and the Pelasgians, there is little archaeological evidence to support their existence as a distinct people. However, their influence on Greek mythology and culture is undeniable, and they remain an important part of the ancient Greek narrative.
